Discovery plays hopscotch amid Norway's islands and inlets, coves and giant fjords. After exploring Bergen and its links with Edvard Grieg, we'll call on Trondheim, setting for a splendid medieval cathedral and the Stifsgarden, the king's official country residence. Rounding the North Cape where nightfall is all but unknown at this time of year, we'll cross the Arctic Circle, skirting the shores of Finnmark to Russian Murmansk. We'll meet the Sami people and learn about the WWII Atlantic convoys. We'll take in the lunar landscapes of Honningsvag, sail to Hammerfest, the world's northernmost town, and explore Narvik's fascinating War Museum. As day and night slot into place once more, the charms of harbourside Alesund await.
